In this video, Professor John Ahr of the Online Jewelry Academy demonstrates a tried and true method for marking your designs onto a wax surface for lost wax casting.

The easiest way to transfer a paper pattern onto a wax surface is to use a pointed implement, like a push pin, and poke small holes through the paper and into the wax.  Once the paper is removed, apply a bit of powder to crete a high contrast outline.
