In this video, Prof. John Ahr of the Online Jewelry Academy demonstrates how to give dimensional form to textured sheet metal.

The most common problem with working with textured materials is that you loose some of the surface detail when you manipulate them.
The secret to success is to use tools that are softer than the material itself.  Often jewelers will manipulate metal using tools made out of steel; which is harder than metals often used in jewelry production.  But, if you substitute steel tools for ones made from wood, leather, or plastic you should be able to avoid damaging a metal surface.

In this video, Prof. Ahr uses a hardwood dapping block and hardwood dapping punches to manipulate a copper disc and transforms it into a dome.  Because the wooden materials are softer than the copper, Prof. Ahr is able to dome the disc without damaging the texture on the disc.

You'll notice in the video that Prof. Ahr is able to transform the disc with just one hammer blow to the hardwood punch.  This is because the disc has been pre-annealed or softened with heat.  The OJA has videos on annealing and applying textures that will help you to achieve similar results.
