In this video, Professor John Ahr of the Online Jewelry Academy visits Monte Christo Trade Corp. to see how jewelry manufacturers use industrial equipment to draw down wire to a smaller gauge. The process of drawing down a wire to a smaller dimension is performed at the bench using a steel draw plate. Manufacturers utilize a machine equipped with diamond draw plates to quickly reduce the size of a wire. Be sure to stand back. Otherwise, you might get wet.
