In this video, Professor John Ahr of the Online Jewelry Academy demonstrates how to sweat solder together the elements for a hammer textured pendant. This video will show you hot to sweat solder pieces together without having to worry about them moving apart during the soldering process. Additionally, you'll learn how to control where the solder flows.
Sweat soldering is kind of like using solder in the same way that you would use glue to attach two elements together. And, just like glue, you don't want your solder to show. That would make your work look sloppy. It is very important to control the flow of solder whenever you are connecting different metals such as silver and copper. This same level of care should be taken when joining silver to silver as well. That's because the solder is an alloy of silver that doesn't have the same color as the larger elements you are attaching to one another.
