In this video, Professor John Ahr of the Online Jewelry Academy demonstrates how to use chamois polishing sticks. These easy to make leather covered tools are an effective way to carefully polish delicate surfaces or isolated spot on a piece of jewelry.
You can use leather polishing sticks with any sort of polishing compound that you might have in your jewelers bench. Just be sure to mark them so that you always use the same compound on them. Additionally, it's important to store them in plastic so that they don't cross contaminate. If your chamois polishing stick become contaminated with various compounds, they will not work correctly until they are cleaned or the leather is replaced.
