In this video, Professor John Ahr of the Online Jewelry Academy explains the use of Yellow Ochre as an anti flux. This material is essentially clean dirt that keeps solder in its place without harming any of your bench operations.
Yellow Ochre is a natural mineral material that is often used in ceramics to color glazes. But, it is also an essential item on any jewelers bench. This is because it helps control the flow of solder so that multiple solder joints can be successfully created on the same project.
Whenever working with yellow ochre, be sure to exercise caution. This material should never get into your eyes or mouth. And, it should be washed off immediately from skin to avoid irritation and staining.
